Swimming with Sharks on Teignmouth Pier

When you see an opening you never know what might be on the other side of it, best to put your head through and have a good nosy look anyway.

The tide was in this morning, no long beach walks or digging sessions.
Instead we wandered along to the pier that's been closed for months because of last Winters storms.

It's all up and running again.

At least most of it is, some of it still needs to be repaired.

The beach was still covered with water.

We made a visit to Mr Coggins on the pier.

Had a quick walk on the grass by the flower beds, then home for a few minutes of Sid squirrel watching with Frankie de tabby.

Have a great Sunday, even if you can't go digging on the beach.

Weight weigh in day for a tubby Cavalier

As some might know over the last couple of weeks, after my annual check up at the vet's it was found the vet's scales were wrong. Totally out of sync.

They have to be wrong when they spoke and told me to gerr off tubby.
Can't say that the last two weeks have been easy, my ideal weight should be 11 Kilo's.
The extra kilo could have been all the fluff I was carrying around and since I was last weighed I've had a hair cut.

I've been working out on the beach.

I've also resigned myself to the fact that I am an addict. I'm a cat food thief.
As I always say, if it's there and the cat has left it, he doesn't want it, shame to let it go to waste.

I've been drinking loads of water after a good beach workout.

The best help over the last two weeks has undoubtedly been the help I've had from C.F.A. This is a voluntary organization set up for cat food thief's just like me. The organization has had two helpers who have made my life so much easier by removing left over Frankie de tabby cat food as soon as the cat leaves the dish, not that he leaves much anyway.

This mornings weigh in was more than a bit tail biting, had I or had I not lost weight ?
Last time I was on the scales I was 12 kilo's, target weight 11 kilo's.

Looks like the vet still has to fix his scales a little bit more. 11.4 Kilo's....

Don't think for one minute I can do this on my own without C.F.A.
I'll keep at it for a few more weeks.

Puffin watch Sunday

Puffin watch today.

Have to watch him, he would, if he could, fly away.

He would fly if he had wings.
He hasn't wings, which is lucky for me.
He hasn't got wings cos I've chewed them off.

Many thanks to Caroline at Uniqart for supplying me with tasty Chubby Dog treats this week. Thanks Caroline, I've had a few already, I'm being staved limited with treats until I go for my weigh in at that ever so nice Mr Vets next Wednesday.

At least I can still smell ice cream, this is a sniffy scratchy card that Princess Leah sent me. What would I do without ice cream..... I will be a twig and waste away.

Princess Leah now has her own blog and by the press of a button you can find her HERE
I know she would luv's to meet you all.

Not much fun being on a diet. Even my new hair cut during the week didn't help shed a few pounds. Standing on one leg on the scales might.

I have to ask you, does my bum look big in this ?

All our love to Jazzi's mum and family who feel very sad at the moment. We with so many others will miss taco loving Jazzi and her blog posts.

The ruby red slippers of dog collars.

Okay, so I have been found out, I'm slightly over weight, but only by ONE KILO.
If you say it quick it doesn't sound much. Enough that I am now on a different diet and after a week of he, he, giving me carrots and apples and other tosh that I can't stand and spit out, I'm not doing badly.

Shopping for a new collar today should have been as easy as snaffling cat food climbing on a log.

This little pink number is my old collar. It used to sparkle but with all the battering I give it on the beach as I have my head down a sand hole it's seen better days.

Enter, pink hot number two. This one is padded and is a medium size. Most of all, it's soft inside.

After demanding to take it out of it's packaging in the shop to try it on the sales assistant rolled her eye's. That made me wonder if she saw me the other day when we were in the same store, did she see me trying to sample the dry goods.
The new pink number came out of the shop and was snapped on me straight away. Then taken off again for closer inspection. A SHARP BIT.

Loose stitching.

Then there's the bit that hangs inside, with one beach trip that would be flapping all over the place. Hum, bad choice, bad buy.

Pink hot number three.
This one is made of the same stuff without the padding. I WANTED THE PADDED ONE..................

Think again if they think these are going to fit me !

The moral of the story,  LOOK CAREFULLY and TRY things on before you buy, even if the sales assistants do roll their eye's at you thinking your being awkward cos you want to take stuff out of it's packaging and have a closer look. This particular well known pet store who trades all over the country will remain anonymous.

We are special paws and deserve the best. Best, would have been a soft waxed leather collar, but can't find one with a quick clip fixing, unless anyone out there knows something different. It also has to be strong enough to withstand the beach.

nope, not gonna get into the slippers........

Over to the light for healthy eating.

We all know the weight scales at my vets were totally wrong and broken during the week.
They didn't have to tell me to "get off tubby", that wasn't very polite.

Best paw forward, time to go shopping for something that isn't going to pile on the pounds.

There's so much choice, but I'm after something that is going to help me lose weight.

Sometimes after a bit of tugging at the wrappers you can try before you buy.

Some of the bags are sealed tightly. This bag had a few teeth marks already on it, I had to test this bag to make sure it was intact. Looked like someone had tried to suck out the contents.

We never did buy anything from this shelf, besides, some of the packets were a bit chewed.
No one wants to buy split packets of dog food or packets that looked as if they have been sucked and slobbered on.

We brought something called "light kibble and something else that is lean and tasty with reduced fat.

Nothing drastic, no big diet kick, just healthy eating.

The yearly check up for paws and Pedigree's.

It's safety week in bloggy dog and cat land this week, officially I'm not taking part cos I was fast asleep, missed all the stuff about it when Jake was staying here last week.

It gives me a good opportunity to tell everyone how important yearly check ups at the ever so nice Mr or Mrs or Miss Vet's are.

We all know waiting in the waiting room can be a bit of a chore.

But you meet the most adorable creatures.
Bit fuzzy cos little worm was squirming around. Meet ten week old Oliver.

It always give me the chance to say hello to old friends.

My yearly check up this year  included checking my heart, legs, body, ears, eye's, tum, teeth and most important of all another booster shot to keep me healthy for another year.

Heart, clear as a bell and working great. Everything great, I'm in tip top condition.

We won't however mention the scales in the vet, cos they are wrong, they seem to be a good few pounds out. As I stood on them they seemed a bit wonky. Just in case they aren't wrong, I've decided no more cat food stealing. From now on, I'm gonna leave the cat cookies to the cat.
