Guillemot Rescued by Cat Flap Cavalier on South Devon Beach.

Back on the beach and guess who we met...

It was a hard choice, stone, ponies or dig a new hole in the sand.

Instead we started to toddle off along the beach, leaving the ponies behind.

Laying on the sand by the water line was a bird, a big bird. I went over and it never moved. I stood there, mum put away the camera, grabbed her scarf from around her neck.
DRAMA.
Dogs and horses on the beach and the bird wouldn't move, it just sat there.
Dad wrapped up the bird in mum's scarf, it gave Dad a couple of pecks on his hand.
We walked back the way we had come, past four more ponies coming down onto the beach.Dad carried the bird back to the car and they wrapped it my dog towel.

We then took it to the nearest vet. Never even parked the car, Dad got out and hurried the bird inside.

One safe sea bird on it's way to a wild bird rescue center to recover.

Many sea birds have been found on our beaches over the last few weeks. Some of them have been covered in oil from ships or totally exhausted because they have had to fight to survive in the storms we have had.

Bird rescue can be a tiring job. You can't save them all, but if you can save one, the drama is worth it.
