Duckling Rescue

They have done it again. Stopped all the traffic on both sides of a busy road to rescue ducklings that were wandering around with no mum in sight. Unfortunately one of the ducklings was a bit too feisty and before he could be caught disappeared under the stopped cars. Hopefully the little guy made it to safety OR someone else caught him.
There was such a build up of traffic we couldn't hang around any longer.

Rescuing two was better than leaving them all on their own on the road. This is my pink basket that goes in the car, it normally holds my water bowl and dog towel. Pleased it came in handy this afternoon.

When we got them home, we found my mum's postcard crossing box and put a few holes in the top of it.

Then we had to find someone who would be able to look after them properly ...  Luckily our vet keeps ducks.
Shame about the third duckling, but at least two of them are safe.

I did manage to get a walk on the beach after all the excitement.

They did it again ?
Seems something like this happened before. Last time they stopped cars on both sides of the road so a mother duck and her large brood could cross the road safely.... Quackers

  2. At least you got two. Last year mum went to the pond and left two of her brood behind. I had the dogs so asked some lady to help get them. Clever clogs said no and before you know it a crow swooped down and got one. Needless to say she got off her butt caught the other took it to my vets who then released it back to mum. Pity she didn't move and get the first one. At least you tried. Have a terrific Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  7. Your mum wouldn't let you keep one? Raising ducks is lots of fun... Glad they got rescued, well done.

  8. How wonderful to read of rescuing the wee babies, your mum is much valued and may all folk look out for the wildlife, as they (like us) attempt to cope with life and the stress thereof.
